Purple love! Showy fleabane lives up to its name with masses blue-violet to violet flowers, each one or two inches across, with 100 or so ray florets surrounding a yellow disk, blooming June – September. Multi-branched and clump-forming, reaching an average of around two feet tall. Grow in full sun to light shade in fertile, well-drained soils, will need supplemental water in dry conditions. This vigorous perennial will form colonies that can be divided when the basal rosettes begin to overlap – do not let the rosettes be smothered by leaves in fall. Deadhead to encourage flowering.
