On July 3, 2017 the CoNPS Conservation Committee provided public comment on the Rio Grand National Forest Management Plan.  The letter supported the protection of iconic areas recommended by the San Luis Valley Ecosystem Council.  In addition, because of the presence of several rare and endangered native plants, we particularly recommended the protection of the Elephant Rocks Potential Conservation Area designated by the Colorado Natural Heritage Program.
