2023 Alice Eastwood Scholarship Recipient: Aubanie Dubacher (Biology, Fort Lewis College). $950.
Aubanie is training as a botanist, whose research has addressed the genetics and conservation of Colorado endemic milkvetches and photosynthetic processes in native fern species. She also works in the Fort Lewis College Herbarium, where she mounts, digitizes, and georeferences plant specimens. Aubanie’s career goal is to earn a Ph.D. in plant sciences and contribute to the conservation of plant biodiversity at the molecular, cellular, and biochemical levels.
2023 Alice Eastwood Scholarship Recipient: Magdalyn Rowley-Lange (Organismal Biology and Ecology, Colorado College) $475.
Magdalyn is a student of organismal biology and ecology with a particular interest in Colorado’s grasses and sedges. She studies plant taxonomy and field botany, serves as a teaching assistant for Biology of Plants, and helps curate and reorganize the Colorado College Herbarium. Her goal is to pursue a career in botany using her background in theatre and the arts to communicate science and inspire greater appreciation for native plants.
