Exploring Five Decades of Aquilegia
Fifty years ago, William Weber wrote the first issue of Aquilegia. He couldn’t have known then that a simple black-and-white newsletter would evolve into the full-color, resource-rich magazine we enjoy today. Until recently, Regis University generously hosted our digital archives. When budget cuts forced them to eliminate this storage, our Media Committee stepped up to find a new home for five decades of regional botanical history.
Today, we are thrilled to announce that the complete, historical collection of Aquilegia is now housed directly on our own website!
How to Access the Digital Library
With the technical expertise of our developer and consultant, Liesl Lukacs of VineBUZZ Web, we have launched a brand-new subdomain owned entirely by CoNPS. Because it sits on a separate digital library, you will notice the URL looks a little different: aquilegia.conps.org.
You can easily find the archive from our main website menu under Resources > Aquilegia Magazine. From there, you can access current issues, the back issues library, or our article submission form.
Features of the New Archive
Once inside the digital library, you can browse editions by year or use the top menu to navigate. To make your research seamless, each issue page includes:
- A summary of main topics;
- A list of mentioned plants;
- Primary keywords;
- Options to read online (opens in a new tab) or to download directly to your device.
Best of all, we’ve integrated a powerful new keyword search tool that makes hunting for specific regional topics, plants, and historical data an absolute breeze. Whether you are researching a rare native species or taking a stroll down memory lane, fifty years of botanical history is now right at your fingertips. Happy exploring!
