Showy Milkweed – Asclepias speciosa
$8.00
Showy for sure, and highly attractive to pollinators of many kinds, as well as being a host plant for monarch butterfly larvae. Also attracts hummingbirds and is classified by Xerces.org as being of special value to native bees. This native is a stout, sparingly branched, perennial, usually around three to four feet tall, and spreading through rhizomatous roots. Plant in full sun. Tolerates many soil types, and has a deep taproot – be sure to plant it where you want it. Best in large gardens or open areas. May need supplemental water in a garden.
