Rocky Mountain Penstemon – Penstemon strictus
One of the easiest penstemons to grow, with 2 ft. tall, showy spikes of intensely bright blue flowers. This drought-tolerant penstemon will grow in full sun or light shade, and prefers lighter and well-drained soils. It will spread via stolons to form clumps reaching 36 inches over time. Blooming June – August, it is highly attractive to many pollinators and native bees as well as hummingbirds. Not preferred by rabbits. In the garden, avoid overcrowding and overly enriched soils.
