Gloriosa Black Eyed Susan – Rudbeckia hirta
$8.00
Showy daisy-like, flowers are 2 – 3 inches across, bright yellow rays surrounding a dense chocolate brown cone. The cone matures into a persistent dark brown seed cluster. Depending on growing conditions, this species may act as an annual, biennial, or as a short-lived perennial. It colonizes or spreads by seed, it’s possible that in too-favorable conditions it will tend to take over. High value to pollinators, attracts many different butterflies, moths, and bees, and birds eat the seeds. Deer resistant. Plant in full sun, adapted to a wide range of habitats and loamy-clayey soils. Blooms July-August.
