Blue Vervain – Verbena hastata

$8.00

A clumping perennial with elegantly erect, squarish stems and spikey panicles of small, tubular, blue-violet flowers. Grows in full or part sun in moist or wet, mucky soils, blooming for up to six weeks July – Sept. Although tender new growth may be browsed by rabbits, mature foliage is bitter and unpalatable to most herbivores. Nectar and pollen attract a wide variety of pollinators, including native bees, beneficial wasps, pollinating flies, small butterflies, skippers and moths; seeds enjoyed by numerous birds.
